Jose Mourinho looks closer to reuniting with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr rather than the Portuguese national team as he looks to coach next season, and the club’s current manager could potentially leave. The Saudi Arabian club, to convince Mourinho, would have to offer him a salary higher than Luis Castro’s, who is reportedly $5.5 million a year. Mourinho’s last job at AS Roma saw him earn around $12.5 million in Italy, and Al Nassr may offer him nearly that amount. Mourinho could be seen earning between $9 to $12.5 million a year if he reunites with Ronaldo again.

Mourinho has earned even more in other teams, such as Tottenham Hotspur in England. The ‘Special One’ reportedly earns $20.8 million a year with the team where he did not win a trophy. With Manchester United, Mourinho also earned more than $20 million a year when he spent time at Old Trafford from 2016 to 2018.

With Chelsea, Mourinho also earned around $19 million a year, and he coaches the London team on two occasions. The Portuguese coach started with the Blues in 2004 and left in 2007. He returned in 2013 and then was gone in 2015. At Real Madrid, he also earned those high salaries of around $21.3 million, and he only spent three seasons with the Spanish club. While he earn these high numbers because of his status as a legendary manager, none come too close to a proposal from a Saudi Pro League club last year while he was in Italy coaching AS Roma.

Al Hilal was interested in appointing Jose Mourinho last year

While the rumor of Mourinho reuniting with Ronaldo at Al Nassr grows, there was a time when the ‘Special One’ almost joined Ronaldo’s rivals, Al Hilal. Fabrizio Romano reported that Al Hilal sent a huge contract to Mourinho last year, which would’ve seen the Portuguese coach earning more than $30 million per season, the most he has been offered throughout his career. Mourinho rejected the proposal and other ones last year since he was focused on Roma, but now, he keeps his options open.
